Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday celebrated Mahasaptami by offering prayers to Goddess Durga at key Durga Puja pandals in Patna. He visited the Shri Shri Durga Puja Mahotsav Shiv Mandir in Khajpura and the Shri Shri Durga Ashram in Sheikhpura, praying for happiness, peace, and prosperity for the people of the state. During his visits, he also extended Durga Puja greetings to residents across Bihar, emphasizing the significance of the festival in fostering community spirit and devotion.
In addition to the pandals, Nitish Kumar visited the Shiva Temple in Khajpura, performing traditional rituals and prayers. Earlier in the day, he also went to the official residence of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, where he participated in the Maha Aarti program. These visits reflected the Chief Minister’s commitment to celebrating important cultural and religious occasions while engaging with the community.
Several senior political leaders and officials accompanied him during the celebrations. They included Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Rajya Sabha MP and JDU National Executive President Sanjay Kumar Jha, MLA Sanjeev Chaurasia, JDU State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Secretary Kumar Ravi, Patna Division Commissioner Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, District Magistrate Dr. Tyagarajan S.M., and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma. Organizers, dignitaries, and a large number of devotees also participated, adding to the festive atmosphere.
The Chief Minister’s prayers and public greetings underscored the cultural and spiritual importance of Durga Puja in Bihar. His visits to multiple temples and participation in rituals highlighted a message of hope, unity, and optimism for the state.
