Patna: Patna police have arrested Pankaj Sahni, a criminal who has been active for over 30 years. Officers from Ramakrishna Nagar police station carried out the arrest on Monday after receiving information that Sahni was hiding in a rented house in Sri Krishna Colony, West Nayachak. Sahni was reportedly planning to target some businessmen in the city. During the raid, police recovered weapons, old currency notes, and marijuana-related items from his possession.
The items recovered included a pistol, a country-made firearm, two magazines, 20 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, a fighter, three mobile phones, a marijuana weighing scale, a batkhara, and old 500 and 1000 rupee notes. Police said the mobile phones provided important clues about other criminals connected to Sahni. The operation helped authorities prevent a major crime before it could take place.
East SP Parichay Kumar said a team led by DSP 2 Ranjan Kumar conducted the operation. Sahni has more than 20 criminal cases registered against him in different districts, including Lakhisarai, Barhiya, Munger Kotwali, and GRP police stations. His cases include robbery, theft, violations under the Arms Act, the NDPS Act, and attempted murder. Police said that this arrest will help prevent crimes not only in Patna but also in surrounding areas.
Authorities also said Sahni was involved in the illegal marijuana trade. Evidence from his mobile phones and other items confirmed this activity. Police are now investigating his associates and other criminal networks connected to him. Officials said the arrest is a major step in keeping Patna and nearby areas safe from organized crime.
