New Delhi: The Web Journalists Association of India (WJAI) hosted its flagship event, Digital India 2025, on Saturday at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dwarka, Delhi. Organized in collaboration with Prime Time Research Media Pvt. Ltd., the summit brought together influential figures from diverse fields, including education, health, tourism, PR, and journalism, to discuss the critical role and responsibilities of digital media.
The event served as a platform to discuss the foundational principles and objectives of WJAI, with attendees unanimously praising the organization’s work in promoting ethical journalism.
Upholding Truth in the Social Media Age
Former Union Minister Ashwini Choubey, the chief guest, underscored the importance of the organization’s mission. He highlighted that while digital journalism has revolutionized the world, maintaining truth and integrity in the age of social media remains a significant challenge.
“WJAI is not only working in the interests of journalists across the country but is also educating them about their responsibilities,” Choubey stated, asserting that the association is admirably fulfilling this critical duty.
Renowned cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar also participated as a chief guest, offering praise for WJAI and honoring several key personalities, including National President Anand Kaushal, Bhagalpur-based mathematics teacher GD Gyani, and PR agency director Bhaskar Jha.
Building an Accountable Digital Platform

Anand Kaushal, WJAI National President, addressed the gathering by detailing the organization’s commitment to building a strong and accountable system for digital media in India.
Kaushal highlighted WJAI’s status as the country’s largest web media organization and its registration as the first Self-Regulatory Body (SRB), the Web Journalists’ Standard Authority (WJSA), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Digital Media Ethics Code 2021.
Communication Must Evolve with AI
Bhaskar Jha, founder of Petridish Media, offered a reflection on the rapid evolution of the media landscape, noting its journey from print to digital and now to the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“While the medium may change, the responsibility of truthful and meaningful communication journalism remains,” Jha said. He dedicated his honor to professionals who uphold trust and integrity, vowing to promote the responsible and effective use of AI in communication and empower a new generation of communicators with discretion.
Education and Community
GD Gyani, the celebrated mathematics teacher from Bhagalpur, used a powerful analogy to emphasize the importance of literacy, saying, “Education is the milk of a lioness; the one who drinks it will always roar, therefore every child in the country must get an education.” He expressed his delight at being honored and dedicated his award to the country’s journalists.
The summit also saw several other distinguished professionals honored for their political and social contributions, including industrialist Gautam Radheshyam Morarka, Himanshu Gupta of Prabhasakshi Group, senior journalist Sumit Sharma, and PR professional Roshan Srivastava.
