Patna: As voting for both phases of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections concluded on Tuesday, early projections from the Dainik Bhaskar Reporters’ Poll indicate a clear majority for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The poll suggests that the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) is leading in 73 to 91 seats, significantly trailing the NDA.

Polling for Bihar’s 243 assembly constituencies was held in two phases — 121 seats on November 6 and 122 seats on November 11 — with the Election Commission reporting a robust voter turnout across the state.

The reporters’ poll, based on on-ground assessments from correspondents across districts, points to a resurgent NDA performance, while the RJD–Congress combine is projected to suffer major losses. The Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial face, Mukesh Sahni, is reportedly struggling in his own constituency and may lose, according to the poll’s findings.

Interestingly, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party — contesting its first major election — is said to be in a close fight on three seats, and may manage to open its account in the Bihar Assembly. Meanwhile, Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM could be reduced to a single seat, the poll suggests, marking a steep decline from its previous performance.

Several high-profile constituencies are also witnessing potential upsets. Among them are Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha’s seat in Lakhisarai, singer-turned-politician Maithili Thakur’s Alinagar, Tej Pratap Yadav’s Mahua, Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav’s Danapur, and State BJP president Samrat Chaudhary’s Tarapur — all identified as key battlegrounds where margins may be razor-thin.

The Dainik Bhaskar survey underscores that voter sentiment has swung sharply in favour of the NDA, particularly in semi-urban and rural belts, while the Grand Alliance appears to have lost ground in key regions of North and Central Bihar.

Final counting of votes will take place on November 14, deciding whether the projections align with the electorate’s verdict — and whether Nitish Kumar and his allies have indeed managed to secure another term in one of India’s most politically significant states.
