Patna: Patliputra University has expelled two students in separate cases of exam malpractice, including a B.Ed student who was caught recording a reel during an examination and uploading it on social media.
The student from Magadh Mahila College was found filming on her phone inside the examination hall during semester tests. University officials said the act constituted a clear breach of examination rules, prompting immediate expulsion. A formal report has been submitted to the Controller of Examinations.
At Anugrah Narayan Singh College in Barh, another student was caught using an electronic device during the UG Semester-5 exam on December 4. According to the college notice, the student was found recording a reel for social media, prompting swift action from the administration.
The Controller of Examinations, Professor Manoj Kumar, said the university had put strict measures in place to ensure fair and malpractice-free examinations. “No negligence or misconduct will be tolerated,” he said, adding that disciplinary orders for cheating and electronic device misuse had been issued in advance.
In a separate incident at Mahant Madhusudan College in Bikram, the principal, Professor Sunita Rai, has recommended that a psychology student be debarred for the 2025–26 academic session after another person was found attempting to take the exam on the student’s behalf. The recommendation is based on reports submitted by the invigilator and supervisor and will take effect once approved by the competent authority.
Professor Kumar said the university would intensify surprise inspections across exam centres amid rising complaints. “Such strict action has become essential to protect the integrity of the examination process,” he added.
