Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced that the written examination for the Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) recruitment has been postponed. The test was due to be held across the state from January 10 to January 16, 2026, under advertisement number 87/2025.
In an official notice released on Monday, the commission said the examination — part of the selection process for hundreds of administrative posts in the state’s education department — has been deferred due to “unavoidable reasons”. The notification did not specify the precise administrative or technical issues behind the decision.
The AEDO exam was expected to take place in multiple phases during early January, and aspirants had already begun preparations and travel arrangements. The postponement is likely to prompt concern among candidates who have spent months studying for the test.
BPSC stressed that the examination has not been cancelled, and it will be rescheduled at a later date, which will be published on the commission’s official website. Candidates have been advised to regularly check bpsc.bih.nic.in for updates on the new schedule and exam logistics.
The Assistant Education Development Officer post attracts significant interest, with thousands of applicants vying for positions that play a key role in implementing educational initiatives at district and block levels. The recruitment process includes a written test, followed by document verification and interview stages.
This postponement follows a broader pattern of schedule adjustments in competitive exams nationwide, where logistical, administrative, or unforeseen circumstances have led commissions to revise calendars to ensure fairness and transparency.
