Making Reels Turns Tragic: High-Speed Crash Kills Three in Patna
Patna: A high-speed collision on the AIIMS-Digha elevated road in Patna has resulted in the deaths of three youths and left two others critically injured. The incident occurred when two speeding motorcycles collided with each other while attempting a turn near a cut on the elevated bridge. Both bikes then crashed into the road divider.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident happened as the riders were making reels at high speed. The victims were identified as Abhishek, 18, son of Bablu Prasad from Ranipur, Phulwari Sharif; Bunty and Sumit Kumar, 20, son of Dharmendra Prasad from Ranipur; and Shankar Kumar, 18, son of Pappu Kumar from Birla Colony, Phulwari Sharif. The injured, Naveen, 17, son of the late Deepu Kumar from Barhampur, Phulwari Sharif, and Sonu Kumar, son of Sujit Mahato from Kurkuri, are being treated at Patna AIIMS, with their condition reported as critical.
The crash site falls under the jurisdiction of Rupaspur police station. As soon as the police were informed, officers from Phulwari Sharif Khagaul and Rupaspur police stations arrived at the scene. The deceased were sent for post-mortem examination at the subdivisional hospital in Danapur, while the injured were rushed to AIIMS for urgent medical care.
The incident has caused significant distress among the families of the victims. Preliminary investigations revealed that none of the five boys were wearing helmets at the time of the accident. Pramod Kumar, Additional Police Station Officer at Rupaspur, confirmed that the matter is under investigation. Eyewitnesses informed the police that the boys on both motorcycles were racing each other at high speed, traveling from Phulwari Sharif towards Digha when the accident occurred.
