Patna: A programme aimed at promoting women’s empowerment was held in Patna on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day, bringing together railway employees and officials for discussions on wellbeing, safety and professional growth.
The event, organised at the Officers’ Club in the Pataliputra Railway Complex in Digha, was led by Sunita Singh, president of the East Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization.
Focus on empowerment and wellbeing
Addressing the gathering, Singh spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment and the need to maintain a balance between professional responsibilities and personal life.
Members of the organisation also addressed key issues, including mental health and workplace challenges. Shruti Pandey shared insights on mental health awareness, while Vandana Kumar presented poetry and Poonam Srivastava performed musical pieces during the programme.
Officials from the railway security department conducted a session on cyber security, informing employees about online risks and preventive measures.
Recognition for employees

Sixteen women employees from across the East Central Railway zone were honoured with certificates and cash awards for their contributions.
Nishi Kumari, an accountant based in Hajipur, received a special award for her earlier recognition at a national-level event in New Delhi.
Senior members of the organisation, including vice-president Ranjana Kumar and secretary Manisha Sinha, were present at the event.
Organisers said the programme aimed to encourage women employees, address key challenges and create a supportive environment within the railway workforce.
