Patna: The Bihar government has made it mandatory for state employees to apply for leave exclusively through the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) portal, as part of efforts to simplify and standardise the process.
According to official guidelines, the leave management module within the HRMS has now been fully implemented across departments. While the directive had been issued earlier, its adoption remained limited in several offices due to issues such as incomplete leave balance records.
Under the revised system, employees can now submit leave applications directly through their login without the need to update their leave balance beforehand, reducing procedural delays.
However, the responsibility for verifying and updating leave balances has been placed on office administrators and designated officers. They are required to ensure that records are accurate before processing and approving any leave requests.
Officials have also clarified that no leave request can be cancelled or revoked without proper authorisation from the concerned authority, ensuring accountability in the system.
The government has directed all departments to inform their respective offices about the updated procedure and ensure strict compliance, with all leave-related applications and approvals to be routed through the HRMS platform.
The move is expected to enhance efficiency, improve record-keeping and bring greater transparency to employee leave management in the state.
