Patna: A short film detailing the evolution of Bihar’s Public Distribution System (PDS) became a focal point for visitors at the Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. (BSFC) stall during the three-day Bihar Diwas celebrations at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, from March 22 to 24.
The film, The Story of PDS—From Independence to the Present, screened on an LED display, provided a clear and engaging overview of the PDS’s development and its impact on food security across the state. Visitors were also offered comprehensive information on government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana, the Welfare Institutions and Hostels Scheme, the Scheme for Adolescent Girls, and the Wheat-Based Nutrition Programme.

Officials at the stall guided citizens through services related to ration cards, including application procedures, name modifications, Aadhaar linking, and other online facilities. Modern technologies under the ‘Anna Paryavekshan Kavach’ initiative—such as vehicle tracking systems, GPS monitoring, load cells, geo-fencing, and 24×7 control rooms—were showcased to highlight efforts to improve transparency in food grain transportation.
Farmers attending the exhibition were briefed on paddy and wheat procurement under the Kharif 2025–26 and Rabi 2026–27 marketing seasons, including information on Minimum Support Price benefits. A display of fortified rice further drew attention, promoting awareness of its nutritional advantages, alongside digital tools such as the ‘PDS Parakh’ app for public convenience.
BSFC officials, including Managing Director Sunil Kumar and other senior executives, were present throughout the event to engage with visitors. According to the Corporation, the stall effectively facilitated dialogue between the public and the department, while enhancing transparency and trust in the state’s food distribution and related schemes.
