Patna: Despite gradual improvement in the supply of domestic LPG cylinders in Patna district, the backlog has remained above 1.5 lakh, continuing to pose a challenge for authorities. While consumers have received partial relief due to increased supply in recent days, the long waiting list remains a major concern.
According to the latest data, the total backlog rose to 1,53,713 on Friday, compared to 1,52,286 on Thursday. However, the figures indicate an improvement in supply, as the backlog reduced by 1,427 cylinders in a day.
On Friday, the district received 39,670 cylinders, while 34,018 cylinders were sold. In comparison, only 32,231 cylinders were received on Thursday.
Waiting list remains above 1.11 lakh for IOCL
Company-wise data shows that Indian Oil Corporation Limited received 23,049 cylinders, while 24,397 cylinders were sold. Despite the increased supply, the waiting list for IOCL customers remains high at 1,11,884.
For Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, 7,767 cylinders were received and 8,848 were sold, pushing its waiting list to 31,671.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited received 3,202 cylinders, while sales reached 6,425 cylinders. As a result, the waiting list for HPCL consumers has climbed to 10,158.
Officials said that continuous efforts are being made to improve the supply situation and special measures will be taken in the coming days to reduce the backlog. However, with demand remaining high, bringing down the waiting list continues to be a significant challenge for the administration.
