Gaya: A resident of Phulwaria village in Banke Bazar block of Gaya district has brought laurels to Bihar by accomplishing a challenging motorcycle expedition to Umling La Pass in Ladakh, regarded as the world’s highest motorable pass.
Shivendra Verma completed the demanding journey after riding continuously for five days through some of the toughest Himalayan terrains. His achievement has been widely celebrated in his native village and across the district, with many describing it as a proud moment for Bihar.
Reached Umling La After Five Days on the Road
According to information shared by Verma, he travelled across several high-altitude routes in the Leh-Ladakh region before reaching Umling La Pass on June 3. Situated at an elevation of around 19,024 feet above sea level, the pass is considered one of the most challenging destinations for motorcyclists due to its extreme altitude and harsh weather conditions.
The journey required extensive preparation, endurance and determination, making the feat a significant accomplishment for any rider.
BRO Honours Achievement
In recognition of his successful expedition, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) presented Verma with a medal and a certificate of appreciation.
The honour acknowledged his perseverance and commitment in completing the demanding ride to one of the highest accessible roads in the world.
