Patna:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release Rs 2,400 crore under the Prime Minister Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) on Friday, with around 15 lakh beneficiaries set to receive financial assistance directly in their bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

The disbursement marks a key step in the Centre’s efforts to promote formal employment and encourage businesses to create new jobs across the country.

The Prime Minister is also expected to interact with beneficiaries during the programme, including young people who have secured their first formal jobs and employers participating in the scheme.

Financial Support for Employees and Employers

Under PM-VBRY, first-time employees are eligible for financial assistance of up to Rs 15,000.

Employers hiring new workers can receive incentives of up to Rs 3,000 per employee per month, according to Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.

The government believes the dual-benefit structure will encourage companies to expand hiring while providing financial support to young people entering the workforce.

Scheme Aims to Accelerate Job Creation

The employment scheme was launched to increase participation in the organised workforce and support job creation across sectors.

Initially focused on boosting employment in the manufacturing sector, the programme has since been expanded. Benefits will now be available for up to four years, allowing industries to receive longer-term support for workforce expansion.

The Centre expects the initiative to strengthen employment generation and improve labour market participation, particularly among young job seekers.

Rs 99,446 Crore Allocated for the Programme

The government has earmarked Rs 99,446 crore for PM-VBRY and aims to facilitate the creation of 3.5 crore jobs over the next two years.

Sharing details of the programme on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to youth empowerment, employment generation and stronger social security coverage.

More Than 63 Lakh Youth Added to Formal Workforce

Government data shows that more than 63 lakh young people have entered the formal workforce since August 2025 under the scheme.

Officials say the figures indicate growing participation in organised-sector employment and highlight the programme’s role in connecting job seekers with employment opportunities.

MSMEs Among Key Beneficiaries

The scheme has also seen strong participation from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

According to government figures, more than 80 per cent of businesses availing benefits under Part B of the programme employ fewer than 25 workers.

Officials say the trend demonstrates the scheme’s contribution to supporting small businesses while encouraging local employment generation.

Nationwide Outreach Across 200 Industrial Clusters

Alongside the main event, parallel programmes will be organised across 200 industrial clusters nationwide.

Chief Ministers, Governors, Union and State Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs and other public representatives are expected to participate virtually.

The government hopes the outreach initiative will raise awareness about employment opportunities, skill development programmes and the benefits available under PM-VBRY.
