Motihari/Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out a search at the residence of a travel agent in East Champaran district as part of its investigation into an alleged human trafficking case linked to Cambodia.
The operation took place at Kalupakar village under the Phenhara police station area. Investigators questioned the travel agent, Kalamuddin, for about an hour, seized his mobile phone and directed him to appear before the agency in Patna for further questioning.
House Searched, Mobile Phone Seized
According to sources, the NIA team conducted a detailed search of the premises and questioned Kalamuddin about individuals who had been sent abroad, travel-related documents and the procedures followed in arranging overseas travel.
The agency has seized his mobile phone for forensic examination. Investigators are expected to analyse the device for contact records, financial transactions and other data that could assist the inquiry.
Probe Into Overseas Travel Activities
Kalamuddin, 35, is the son of Md. Yasin and a resident of Kalupakar village. According to officials, he currently lives in Delhi, where he is involved in air ticket booking and facilitating international travel.
Investigators are examining his role in arranging overseas travel and whether he has any direct or indirect links to suspected human trafficking networks.
Local Police Assisted Operation
Police personnel from Phenhara police station remained present during the search and provided security to the NIA team.
Pakridayal Deputy Superintendent of Police Kumar Chandan confirmed that the NIA conducted the operation in the district.
Investigation Continues
The NIA has not issued an official statement on the search or disclosed further details of the investigation.
Officials said the agency is continuing its inquiry, and any determination regarding Kalamuddin’s alleged involvement in an international human trafficking network will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
