Patna: Divisional Commissioner Mayank Warvade on Thursday reviewed preparations for the state-level Independence Day ceremony to be held at Gandhi Maidan, directing officials to complete all arrangements on time and monitor progress on a daily basis.

During the review meeting, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar said Gandhi Maidan has been divided into four zones to streamline preparations. He added that all arrangements are being made keeping the monsoon season in mind.

Focus on Infrastructure and Public Facilities

The review covered cleanliness, drainage, barricading, parking, electricity supply, parade rehearsals, drinking water, first aid facilities, fire safety measures, public address systems, tableaux and law and order arrangements.

Officials were instructed to ensure adequate drinking water, toilets and other essential amenities for people attending the ceremony.

To prevent waterlogging in the event of rain, Executive Officers of the Nutan Rajdhani and Pataliputra zones were directed to keep sufficient suction machines ready. Officials of BUIDCO were also instructed to ensure that all drains remain functional for effective water drainage.

Security Measures Strengthened

A temporary police outpost has been made operational at Gandhi Maidan, while CCTV cameras are monitoring the entire venue and surrounding areas.

The Divisional Commissioner directed officials from BUDCO and the Electricity Department to inspect the high-mast lights installed around Gandhi Maidan. Additional lighting towers will also be installed to improve illumination at the venue during the celebrations.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma briefed the meeting on security arrangements being put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

Twenty Parade Contingents to Participate

The Sergeant Major overseeing the parade informed the meeting that 20 contingents will participate in this year’s Independence Day parade. Regular rehearsals are currently underway.

The Divisional Commissioner instructed officials to ensure that all participating personnel continue attending rehearsals as scheduled.

Thirteen Departments to Showcase Tableaux

Tableaux from 13 government departments will be displayed during the celebrations. The participating departments include the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department, Information and Public Relations Department, Bihar Education Project Council, Rural Development Department (JEEViKA), Bihar Weather Service Centre, State Fire Services, Directorate of Agriculture, Directorate of Civil Defence, Women and Child Development Corporation, Art, Culture and Youth Department, Industries Department, Law Department and Energy Department.

The participating departments were directed to ensure that their tableaux are well-prepared and visually appealing. Artists involved in the presentations have also been instructed to attend rehearsals regularly.

Officials Directed to Meet Deadlines

Warvade said the Independence Day celebration is one of the state’s major annual events and instructed all concerned departments to complete preparations within the stipulated timeline. He also directed officials to review the progress of ongoing work every day.

Deputy Development Commissioner Shubham Kumar and officials from the departments associated with the event were present during the review meeting.
