Patna: Several Smart City facilities installed at key locations in Patna are being removed, relocated or temporarily deactivated as metro construction progresses across the city.
Patna Metro has obtained the necessary permission from the Smart City administration for the changes. The metro construction agency has been assigned responsibility for removing and relocating the affected facilities.
VMD Screen At Patna Junction To Be Removed
The Variable Message Display (VMD) screen installed near the Patna Junction intersection will be removed to facilitate metro construction work.
Smart City surveillance cameras connected to the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) at the location have already been shifted, according to officials.
Smart Cameras At Income Tax Roundabout To Be Shifted
Smart cameras installed at the Income Tax roundabout for traffic monitoring will also be relocated.
The cameras are used to monitor traffic movement and support traffic management. Their relocation is being carried out as part of arrangements for construction activity in the area.
Pelican Signal Near Patna Zoo Deactivated
The Pelican Signal Button System near Gate No. 1 of Patna Zoo on Bailey Road has been temporarily deactivated.
The pedestrian-operated system was used to stop traffic and help people cross the road. Changes at the site have been linked to the ongoing metro construction work.
Smart City CEO Provides Details
Md Shamshad, CEO of Patna Smart City, provided details about the deactivation of the Pelican Signal System and the relocation of Smart City assets at the affected locations.
The relocation work is being undertaken by the metro construction agency alongside construction activities to prevent disruption or damage to Smart City infrastructure.
Mandiri Drain Manhole Covers To Be Repaired
Separately, work has begun to repair broken manhole covers on the Mandiri drain.
The concerned construction agency has been assigned responsibility for the repairs and maintenance of the system. The measures are part of efforts to manage existing civic infrastructure in areas affected by metro construction.
