Patna: Passengers travelling on government buses in Bihar will soon be able to track their buses in real time and book tickets from their homes, with the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) preparing to launch a mobile application called ‘Where Is My Bus’.
The app is expected to provide live bus locations through GPS devices installed in buses, along with information on routes, fares and ticket availability. The initiative aims to help passengers plan their journeys and reduce waiting times at bus stops.
According to departmental sources, the platform will bring information and booking facilities for city services, inter-district routes and inter-state bus services under one system.
Online Ticket Booking And Seat Selection
The proposed app will allow passengers to book tickets for government buses operating from Patna to major destinations in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Passengers will be able to select their preferred seats, pay online and book tickets without visiting a bus stand. The platform is also expected to provide facilities for ticket cancellation and refunds.
Live Tracking Through GPS
GPS-enabled tracking will allow passengers to check the live location of buses through their mobile phones. The feature is intended to help travellers estimate their bus’s progress and plan when to reach the boarding point.
The app will also provide route and fare information, making it easier for passengers to check travel details before starting their journeys.
Launch Expected Soon
The Transport Department has been working on the initiative for some time, and the app is expected to be launched soon, according to departmental sources.
However, an official launch date and details about the app’s availability have not been provided in the information available. Further details on the booking process and the routes covered are awaited.
