Patna: The murder of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna has created fear among traders across Bihar. After the killing, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar directed police officials to ensure safety for all major businessmen in the state. Following his orders, DGP Vinay Kumar has told Superintendents of Police in every district to review the security system and not show any negligence. The police headquarters will also monitor these arrangements closely.
The investigation of the Gopal Khemka murder case has been handed over to a Special Investigation Team (SIT). Officials said this step was taken to avoid any mistakes in gathering evidence and to speed up the investigation. The SIT will work under direct supervision from the police headquarters. The DGP has also alerted the Special Task Force (STF) to identify the killers quickly using CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and intelligence inputs.
Police sources believe a professional criminal gang could be behind the murder. Meanwhile, traders in many cities including Patna, Purnia, and Bhagalpur protested by keeping their shops closed. They are demanding better security from the government to protect businessmen. Business organisations said the killing shows that traders remain unsafe in Bihar.
The police have assured that joint teams of SIT, STF, and local police are investigating all possible angles, including family, business, and criminal links. Officials are confident that the killers will be caught soon and action will be taken against them.
