Patna: India’s Union home minister, Amit Shah, is expected to visit Bihar on February 25 to assess development work in villages situated along the Indo-Nepal border. Although the official schedule has not yet been formally announced, preparations are already in full swing across several northern districts. The visit is likely to centre on panchayats selected under the central government’s Vibrant Villages scheme, which aims to strengthen infrastructure and improve living standards in remote border areas.
Sources indicate that the minister may travel to districts such as Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, East Champaran and West Champaran. These districts share a stretch of the Indo-Nepal border and have been identified for focused development. Several panchayats in these areas are receiving funds and administrative support to improve roads, electricity supply, communication facilities, healthcare services and employment opportunities.
During the visit, Shah is expected to review the progress of ongoing projects and interact with district officials to understand the challenges faced in implementing the schemes. Officials have been directed to prepare updated reports detailing the status of development work. Emphasis is likely to be placed on ensuring that government benefits reach people living in remote and sensitive border regions.
Security arrangements have also been tightened in anticipation of the visit. Police and intelligence agencies are coordinating to ensure smooth movement and safety in the border districts. The proposed tour is being seen as significant for both development and security, as the government seeks to strengthen infrastructure and promote economic growth in Bihar’s frontier villages.
