Patna: A new daily train service, the Amrit Bharat Express, will commence operations between Rajendra Nagar Terminal in Patna and New Delhi from Thursday evening. Train number 22361 will depart Patna at 7:45pm each day, arriving in the capital at 1:10pm the following afternoon. In return, train number 22362 will leave New Delhi at 7:10pm and reach Rajendra Nagar Terminal by 11:45am the next day.
Preparations for the operation of the semi-high-speed service — which offers both unreserved and sleeper-class travel — were completed by Wednesday evening, according to the Railway Division.
The Amrit Bharat Express was virtually flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18 July from Motihari. All sleeper-class seats have already been booked through to 18 August, reflecting high passenger demand. Fares are set at Rs 560 for sleeper class and Rs 325 for general class.
The train will make key stops at Patna, Danapur, Ara, Buxar, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Subedarganj, Govindpuri, and Ghaziabad.
Comprising 22 coaches — including 11 general, 8 sleeper, one pantry car, and two luggage-cum-brake vans — the service is equipped with modern features such as CCTV surveillance, bio-vacuum toilets, and mobile charging points. The Amrit Bharat Express is capable of reaching speeds of up to 130 km/h, with an average operational speed of 57 km/h.
