Patna: Outside the Bihar Legislative Assembly in Patna, tensions rose ahead of the floor test on the state government, as MLA Anant Singh issued a pointed challenge to Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, questioning his political strategy and influence.
Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly premises, Singh said: “Let’s see what Tejashwi Yadav can actually achieve.” The remark quickly gained traction on social media as political temperatures rose ahead of the trust vote.
Singh, who is often referred to as “Chhote Sarkar” by his supporters, spoke briefly from his vehicle as he arrived at the Assembly. He suggested that the opposition lacked the numbers required to mount a challenge in the House, dismissing its preparations as “empty rhetoric”. His comments came amid heightened speculation over possible last-minute political manoeuvres before the floor test.
Inside the Assembly, the NDA government led by Samrat Choudhary secured its position after proving a majority through a voice vote. The Speaker declared the confidence motion passed after no division of votes was sought by the opposition.
During the debate, Tejashwi Yadav criticised the government and took aim at the ruling alliance’s political messaging around Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He argued that slogans projecting continuity had politically undermined Kumar’s position.
Responding in the House, Samrat Choudhary defended the government and said that Nitish Kumar remained central to the NDA’s mandate in Bihar, adding that his leadership had been instrumental in the formation of the current government.
The floor test concluded without a division vote, marking a smooth passage for the government even as opposition leaders continued to question the process outside the House.
