Patna: Ashutosh Dwivedi, a 2018-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, officially assumed charge as the State Transport Commissioner of Bihar on Monday. He was welcomed by senior officials of the Transport Department with a ceremonial bouquet.
Soon after taking over, Dwivedi chaired his first departmental review meeting, during which he was briefed on various schemes, programmes, and pending projects. Key areas of focus included the permit system, issuance of driving licences, vehicle fitness regulations, and road safety measures.
Speaking after the meeting, Dwivedi emphasised the need to bolster the enforcement mechanism in a bid to reduce road accidents across the state. He also outlined plans to improve the accessibility and safety of Bihar’s public transport system. “Public awareness campaigns around road safety will be expanded to ensure a tangible drop in accident rates,” he said.
