Patna: Patna Metro has crossed an important technical milestone with the successful charging and activation of an Auxiliary Substation (ASS) transformer at the Malahi Pakri metro station, officials said, as preparations continue to open two new stations—Khemichak and Malahi Pakri—by the end of February.
The ASS transformer is a critical component of the metro’s power infrastructure. It is responsible for stepping down high-voltage electricity to levels suitable for station operations, ensuring a stable and uninterrupted power supply for essential systems. Officials said the activation of the transformer brings Malahi Pakri station significantly closer to operational readiness.

According to Patna Metro authorities, the charging of the transformer is a key step in developing the electrical infrastructure required for safe and efficient metro services. Reliable power supply is essential for station functions, passenger safety systems and smooth day-to-day operations once services begin.
The development follows a comprehensive inspection carried out on January 23 by the Electrical Inspector General (EIG). The inspection, led by Jagdish Kumar, Chief Electrical Inspector to the Government of India, covered the stretch between Khemichak and Malahi Pakri stations.
Officials said all electrical and electronic systems related to stations, tracks and signalling were examined during the inspection and found to be compliant with prescribed safety and operational standards. Such inspections are mandatory before commissioning and are aimed at ensuring reliability and passenger safety.
With electrical systems progressing and safety checks completed, Patna Metro officials remain confident that both Khemichak and Malahi Pakri stations will be ready for public use by the end of February, marking another step forward for the city’s long-awaited metro network.
