Patna: Bihar government is set to begin the new academic session in 534 Model Schools from April 1, with one school being established in each block. Admissions will be granted to students who clear the entrance examination, based on a merit list. The State Education Research and Training Council (SCERT) has set February 15 as the deadline for submitting applications.
The initiative, part of the state government’s Saat Nischay 3 programme, aims to strengthen academic opportunities for students from grade nine onwards, preparing them for competitive examinations such as NEET, JEE, and Olympiads. Registrations can be completed online via the SCERT Patna portal.
Officials from the Education Department said the Model Schools will offer smart classrooms, modern libraries, well-equipped laboratories, regular test series, and achievement analyses. Students will also receive doubt-clearing sessions, individual vocational and career guidance, and instruction from experienced teachers and subject experts. The schools are designed to provide a disciplined and academically focused environment.
In a significant policy change, the government has removed the annual income limit for parents applying to Model Schools, meaning income certificates are no longer required. However, category-wise reservations for admissions will continue as per state rules.
