Ara/Patna: A wave of mourning has gripped Bhojpur district after news emerged that Agniveer Danish Alam, a resident of Koilwar block, was among those killed in an Indian Air Force transport aircraft crash near Jorhat in Assam on Saturday.
According to reports, five Indian Air Force personnel, including officers and Agniveers, lost their lives when an AN-32 transport aircraft crashed and caught fire while attempting to land at the Jorhat Air Force airfield.
Rescue teams rushed to the site following the accident, but the personnel on board were reported to have died in the crash.
From Bhojpur To The Indian Air Force
Danish Alam was a resident of Kayamnagar village in Bhojpur district’s Koilwar block. He had joined the Indian Air Force as an Agniveer in June 2025.
His father, Mohammad Farrukh Alam, works at a workshop in the Gidha Industrial Area, while his mother, Akhtari Begum, is a homemaker. Danish was the only son in the family and had two elder sisters, Shagufta Parveen and Ghazala Parveen.
Family members and villagers described him as a bright and determined young man who had long aspired to serve in the armed forces.
According to residents, his dream of serving the nation had been evident since childhood, and he worked hard to secure his place in the Air Force under the Agnipath recruitment scheme.
The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of five personnel in the An-32 accident at Jorhat, Assam.

Training And Posting
After his selection, Danish was sent from the Air Force station at Bihta to Belgaum in Karnataka for training.
Upon completing his training, he was posted to Jorhat in Assam, where he had been serving since October 2025.
Family members said he had recently returned home on leave on May 23 and spent a week with his family before resuming duty on May 30.
Relatives recalled that nobody imagined the young serviceman, who had left home only days earlier, would never return alive.
Village Plunged Into Mourning
As news of the crash reached Kayamnagar, residents gathered at the family home to offer condolences.
The loss has left the village in shock, with neighbours, relatives and local residents describing the tragedy as a devastating blow to the community.
Family members were inconsolable after learning of Danish’s death, while villagers remembered him as a disciplined and dedicated young man whose commitment to serving the country inspired many around him.
