Patna: The Agriculture Department Bihar has intensified efforts to expand its AgriStack and Digital Crop Survey (DCS) initiatives, with the state government directing officials to strengthen digital agricultural infrastructure and clear pending applications on priority.
During a review meeting, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit instructed concerned departments to process more than 8.22 lakh pending applications at the level of revenue officials in “mission mode”.
Digital Mapping And Farmer Registration
Officials were also directed to expedite completion of pending map data for more than 15,400 villages in coordination with the Revenue and Land Reforms Department Bihar.
According to the latest figures, 47,85,386 farmers — around 55.41% of the targeted population — have been registered under the initiative across Bihar.
Districts including Vaishali district and Sheohar district have recorded the highest progress, exceeding 100% of registration targets.
Crop Survey Across Villages
Out of Bihar’s 30,416 villages, digital crop surveys have begun in 30,015 villages.
Authorities said more than 1.82 crore land plots have already been digitally surveyed under the programme.
The survey data indicates that wheat accounts for 60.75% of cultivated land in the state, while maize covers 14.74% across approximately 24.21 lakh hectares.
Focus On Crop Intelligence
Officials said detailed databases have also been prepared for cash crops including makhana, banana and litchi.
The chief secretary described AgriStack as more than a conventional database, calling it a shift from “crop production to crop intelligence”.
According to officials, the initiative is expected to improve transparency in agricultural schemes, while also strengthening disaster relief planning, crop monitoring and agricultural credit management across the state.
