The scheme will benefit thousands of farmers and skilled workers linked to the sugar sector. At its core, it aims to modernise agricultural practices, encourage the adoption of high-yield varieties, and improve the seed replacement rate.
A total of 16 sugarcane varieties have been selected for cultivation in the upcoming cycle. These include BO-0238, BO-0118, BO-98014, BO-9301, Rajendra-112, Rajendra-16437, BO-94184, BO-12207, BO-12209, BO-153, and several Sakeelke and COS series varieties. The focus will remain on high-quality, cost-effective varieties to ensure both productivity and profitability.
To ensure smooth execution, sugar mills will actively support the scheme. Oversight will be carried out at the regional level by Deputy Directors of Sugarcane Development.
In a significant step towards farmer convenience, the government has digitised the entire process. From application to payment, all activities will be conducted online via the “Cane Care” portal, promising transparency and timely support.
