Muzaffarpur: The Bihar government has announced plans to establish a specialised university for Architecture and Civil Engineering in Muzaffarpur as part of its efforts to expand technical and higher education in the state.
Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary made the announcement during a public event in Muzaffarpur, saying the proposed university would be developed on the campus of Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology (MIT).
Specialised Institution Planned

According to the Chief Minister, the university is expected to undertake teaching and research in areas including modern infrastructure, urban development, smart cities, building construction and emerging technologies.
He said the institution is intended to support the state’s growing infrastructure needs by producing skilled professionals and encouraging research in technical disciplines.
Expanding Technical Education
The Chief Minister said the government aims to strengthen Bihar’s position as a centre for technical education by improving access to specialised academic programmes.
He added that expanding opportunities in engineering and architecture could improve employment prospects for young people while increasing the participation of locally trained professionals in the state’s development projects.
Project To Be Taken Forward
The Chief Minister said the government would initiate the necessary steps to establish the university and take the project forward.
No timeline for approval or construction was announced during the event. Further details regarding funding, statutory approvals and the implementation schedule are yet to be released by the state government.
