Patna: The Bihar Legislative Assembly’s winter session was thrown into confusion on Wednesday when a technical malfunction disrupted Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s address. Moments after the Governor began outlining the new government’s agenda and development plans, his microphone failed, leaving his speech largely inaudible to lawmakers and officials in the Central Hall.
The Governor continued reading his address calmly, but after several minutes of unclear sound, he remarked, “I will speak louder,” drawing attention to the ongoing problem. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav were seen exchanging glances as staff scrambled to restore the system.
Assembly marshals, secretariat officials, and technical personnel immediately intervened, inspecting wiring, replacing microphones, and coordinating with the main control room. Despite their efforts, the sound system could only be partially restored, leaving several MLAs unable to hear key sections of the speech.
The incident occurred on the third day of the winter session, which also anticipates the presentation of the government’s second supplementary budget for 2025-26. Lawmakers expressed frustration over the disruption, highlighting concerns about the reliability of the Assembly’s technical infrastructure during crucial proceedings.
Despite the glitch, the Governor continued to outline the government’s policies and initiatives, underscoring his composed response amid the unexpected interruption.
