Patna: The Bihar Education Department has abolished the requirement of 45% marks for compassionate appointments to the posts of school clerk and peon. Earlier, applicants for clerk posts needed at least 45% marks in Intermediate, while peon candidates needed 45% in Matriculation.
However, the 45% marks condition will remain mandatory for direct recruitment through the commission. For clerk posts, candidates must have at least 45% in Intermediate or equivalent—Maulvi from the State Madrasa Education Board or Upshastri from Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University.
Move to Address Appointment Delays
The decision comes after several candidates applying under compassionate grounds were unable to meet the marks requirement, creating hurdles in their appointments. The Education Department clarified that the relaxation applies only to compassionate appointments.
Healthcare Boost in Begusarai
Meanwhile, in Begusarai, 200 community health officers (CHOs) received appointment letters at the Kargil Vijay Bhawan in the Collectorate on Friday. Additionally, 145 health sub-centres were inaugurated.
Union Minister and MP Giriraj Singh called the initiative a milestone for Bihar’s healthcare sector. He said the appointment of CHOs will ensure delivery of basic medical services in villages, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant hospitals for minor ailments.
