Patna: The release of the second list of candidates by Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party on Monday triggered chaos among party workers, who accused the leadership of selling tickets and ignoring loyal members. The party announced 65 new candidates, bringing the total to 116, following the first list of 51 names released on October 9.
The announcement was made by Kishor, along with National President Uday Singh and State President Manoj Bharti, during a Prayas conference at Sheikhpura House in Patna. Soon after, several party members erupted in protest, chanting slogans and demanding explanations from the leadership.
Some workers compared Kishor’s functioning to that of the East India Company, claiming that decisions were being made without consultation and that corruption had seeped into the ticket distribution process. Members from the Tekari Assembly constituency alleged that “tickets are being distributed in exchange for bribes” and that those who had participated in Kishor’s earlier marches were being overlooked.
Local media reports said that police were called in to control the situation after tensions escalated, the unrest continued for hours, with workers expressing anger over what they described as the party’s departure from its promise of transparency and people-centric politics. The Jan Suraj Party has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
