Patna: A new chapter in Bihar’s cultural promotion began today with the inauguration of the Bihar Emporium at the Departure Terminal of Jayprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna. The emporium has been set up to bring the state’s traditional art, craft, and culture closer to both Indian and international travelers, giving them a chance to explore and purchase authentic handmade products from across Bihar.
The inauguration took place at 3 p.m. and was attended by Industry Minister Shri Nitish Mishra as the chief guest. He was accompanied by senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Shri Mihir Kumar Singh, Secretary Shri B. Kartikeya Dhanji, and Airport Director Shri Krishna Mohan Nehra. Addressing the event, the minister said that this initiative would open up new markets for Bihar’s artisans and help increase their income. He stressed that travelers purchasing local products would not just take home a souvenir but also contribute to making Bihar self-reliant.
The emporium will showcase a wide variety of handicrafts, including Madhubani paintings, Manjusha art, coin craft, stone and wood carvings, ceramic craft, and Tikuli paintings. These traditional forms of art represent the skill and heritage of thousands of artisans who have kept them alive for generations. By making these products available at the airport, officials hope to attract more buyers and create a steady source of income for artisan families.
This initiative is expected to strengthen the economic condition of thousands of artisans across Bihar. The direct link between creators and customers will encourage more production and preserve these crafts for future generations. It is also likely to enhance Bihar’s image as a state with a rich cultural history, leaving travelers with a lasting impression of its artistic diversity.
