Patna: The Bihar government has directed officials to complete all electricity-related maintenance and infrastructure work for Shravani Mela 2026 by June 30 to ensure uninterrupted and safe power supply for devotees during the annual pilgrimage.
The decision was taken during a video conference meeting held at Vidyut Bhawan in Patna on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by Ajay Yadav, Secretary of Energy and Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited.
Rahul Kumar and officials from power supply circles and divisions in Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger and Sultanganj also attended the meeting.
Focus on Uninterrupted Supply Along Kanwariya Route
According to officials, four new 11 kV dedicated feeder lines with covered conductors will be installed along the Kanwariya route in Banka district to strengthen electricity distribution during the Mela.
The project will involve the installation of around 1,738 electricity poles. Authorities were also instructed to complete maintenance work related to 33 kV, 11 kV and LT lines, along with transformers, before the June 30 deadline.
The Energy Department further decided to replace existing 11 kV overhead lines with insulated cables on the Kanwariya route to improve safety for pilgrims.
Three Main Control Rooms to Be Set Up
To improve coordination and emergency response during the Mela period, the department will establish three main control rooms in Banka, Bhagalpur and Munger districts.
Officials said a total of 16 operational zones will be created across Sultanganj, Banka, Bhagalpur and Munger for systematic management of the fair area.
The meeting also reviewed the preparedness of mobile units, Quick Response Teams, trolley-mounted transformers and the availability of essential electrical materials. Additional manpower will be deployed in the concerned districts during the Mela period.
