Patna: The Bihar government has called for the time-bound completion of major power projects being implemented under various state schemes, as senior officials reviewed progress amid a renewed emphasis on reliable electricity supply and consumer protection.
The review meeting, held on Monday, was chaired by Manoj Kumar Singh, secretary of the energy department and chairman-cum-managing director of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited. Officials assessed the status of projects under construction across generation, transmission and distribution segments.
Singh issued clear instructions to complete all works under the Sabka Samman – Jeevan Aasan initiative, a key component of Saat Nishchay-3, within stipulated timelines. He also laid out specific guidelines for strengthening electricity infrastructure under Mazboot Aadhar, Aadhunik Vistar, aimed at reinforcing the state’s power system through modern expansion.
Projects linked to the Pragati Yatra initiative were also directed to be completed on schedule. Singh underlined the importance of ensuring uninterrupted power supply and expediting the provision of new agricultural electricity connections.

Under the Sabka Samman – Jeevan Aasan programme, several consumer-focused measures were reviewed. Officials said that if daily power supply falls below 21 hours, high-tension and smart meter consumers will be eligible for proportional compensation through adjustments in fixed charges. In the event of outages lasting more than 30 minutes, consumers will receive real-time updates via the Suvidha mobile application and SMS alerts.
Information about the fuse call centre is now being included on electricity bills, while directions were issued to integrate the Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) portal with an omni-channel customer relationship management system to enable faster resolution of complaints.
The meeting was attended by Mahendra Kumar, managing director of South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited, and Rahul Kumar, managing director of North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited and Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited, along with other senior officials.
