Patna: The eastern Indian state of Bihar is steadily positioning itself as a growing centre for film production, with authorities approving 45 projects across multiple languages under its film promotion policy.
According to data released by the Bihar State Film Development and Finance Corporation Limited for 2024–25 and 2025–26, the approved slate includes 22 Hindi films, 19 Bhojpuri films, one Magahi film, one English-Bhojpuri bilingual project and one Hindi-Maithili film.
In total, the projects comprise 38 feature films, six documentaries and one web series, all receiving subsidies and administrative facilitation under the state’s film promotion framework. Officials said that since July 2024, filming for 39 of these projects has already been completed, while the rest remain in production.
The state government’s policy offers incentives including subsidies, single-window clearances and logistical support to attract filmmakers to shoot in Bihar.
A range of titles currently in production includes Sanghatiya, The Long Journey Home, Bihar Ka Jalwa, Suhagin Ke Senur, Life Leela, Zindagi Bitawani Tohre Pyar Mein and Champaran Satyagraha, among several others spanning commercial cinema, documentaries and culturally rooted narratives.
Shooting is taking place across multiple locations including Patna, Rajgir, Bodh Gaya, Gaya, Munger and the Champaran region. Officials say these locations are being used to highlight the state’s historical, religious and cultural landscape for wider audiences.
Film producers have welcomed the policy support, citing easier permissions and financial incentives as key factors driving increased production activity in the state.
