Patna: Bihar is set to get its first dedicated Space Club, with Aryabhatta Knowledge University announcing the establishment of the “Aryabhatta Space Club” at its campus in Patna.
The announcement was made by Prof. Sharad Kumar Yadav, Vice-Chancellor of the university, during the India Space Congress 2026 held in Delhi.
Focus on Space Science and Innovation
According to the university, the club will work towards developing scientific curiosity and awareness among students in areas such as space science, astronomy, satellite technology, space data analytics and emerging space technologies.
The initiative is expected to create new learning and career opportunities for young people from Bihar and Eastern India. Through expert lectures, workshops, training programmes and interactive sessions, students will gain exposure to developments in the space sector.
The university said the club would serve as a platform for innovation, research and skill development while helping students connect with national and international space-related activities.
Boost to Astronomy Education
Prof. Yadav said the experiences, expert insights and industry connections developed during India Space Congress 2026 would contribute significantly to the growth of the university’s proposed School of Astronomy.
He added that the institution aims to develop a centre of excellence for astronomy education, research and innovation in Bihar and Eastern India. The proposed Space Club is expected to play an important role in achieving that objective.
Patna Women’s College Revises Dress Code
In a separate development, Patna Women’s College has revised its dress code for the new academic session.
The college administration has made pants and shirts mandatory for students across all courses. However, students who require an alternative outfit for specific reasons will be allowed to wear a suit, provided it matches the colour prescribed in the official college uniform.
