Gopalganj: Following the bomb blast in Delhi on November 10, a high alert has been issued in Bihar, especially in Gopalganj district, which borders Uttar Pradesh. Security has been tightened at the famous Thawe Durga Temple, one of Bihar’s most visited religious sites. Acting on the instructions of Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar, the police have increased surveillance and are keeping a close watch on every crowded place. Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit himself is inspecting security arrangements at the temple and nearby areas, making sure that no suspicious activity goes unnoticed.
Teams from the bomb disposal squad and units equipped with metal detectors have been deployed at the temple and at Thawe Junction railway station. They are checking bags, vehicles, and belongings of visitors and devotees. Apart from the temple, police are also conducting searches at hotels, guest houses, restaurants, and other busy areas in the district. The entire operation aims to ensure that Gopalganj remains safe after the Delhi blast triggered fears of a possible threat in other parts of the country.
The alert was issued by the Home Ministry, after which the Bihar DGP directed all Superintendents of Police across the state to increase vigilance at key locations such as tourist spots and major railway stations. Following this order, extra police forces have been deployed in Gopalganj and nearby districts. Officials have been instructed to monitor every movement at public places and tourist sites. This strict checking is being done as a preventive measure to avoid any untoward incidents.
Gopalganj has long been on the radar of security agencies because several suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were earlier arrested from the district. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made multiple arrests in the past, including that of Sheikh Abdul Naeem and others. Due to these earlier links, the district police have been told to stay extra cautious after the Delhi explosion.
Security has also been strengthened in Siwan district. On Monday night, the Railway Police Force (RPF), Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF), and Government Railway Police (GRP) carried out a joint inspection at Siwan Junction railway station. They thoroughly checked platforms, waiting areas, and trains to ensure the safety of passengers. Police officials have said that these checks will continue in the coming days, and citizens have been urged to stay alert and report any suspicious activity immediately.
