Patna: The Bihar government has carried out a major reshuffle of the state police administration, transferring 29 police officers, including several Indian Police Service (IPS) officers serving as district police chiefs.
The Home Department issued the transfer notification on Thursday, describing the exercise as part of efforts to strengthen law and order and improve administrative efficiency across the state.
The reshuffle affects key districts and specialised police units, resulting in a significant reorganisation of leadership within Bihar Police.
District SPs Given New Assignments
Under the new postings, Banka Superintendent of Police Upendra Nath Verma has been transferred as SP of Aurangabad.
Khagaria SP Rakesh Kumar has been appointed Commandant of Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP)-5 in Patna, while Kaimur SP Harimohan Shukla has been posted as Commandant of BSAP-7 in Katihar.
Sheikhpura SP Baliram Kumar Chaudhary has been transferred as Superintendent of Police (Security) in the Special Branch, Patna.
Amitesh Kumar, who was serving as SP (Security) in Patna, has been appointed the new SP of Banka.
Changes In Key Districts
Bettiah SP Shaurya Suman has been appointed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Purnia.
Saharsa SP Himanshu has been posted as the new police chief of Sheikhpura.
Sheohar SP Shubhank Mishra has been transferred to Vaishali, while Vaishali SP Vikram Sihag has been moved to Saharsa.
Katihar SP Shikhar Chaudhary has been appointed SP of Kaimur.
The City SP (West) of Patna has been posted to Khagaria, while City SP (East) Parichay Kumar has been transferred as SP of Katihar.
Further Transfers Across The State
Gaya SP Kota Kiran Kumar has been posted as SP of Jehanabad.
Bhagalpur SP Shailendra Singh has been transferred as SP of Sheohar.
Officials said the reshuffle is intended to bring fresh leadership to districts and improve policing efficiency through strategic redeployment of officers.
Focus On Administrative Efficiency
The transfer exercise comes as the state government seeks to strengthen policing and administrative coordination across districts.
The Home Department’s notification includes additional transfers involving officers posted in specialised units and district police establishments.
