Patna: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Patna region, has reviewed the status of 19 proposed Kendriya Vidyalayas across Bihar, highlighting delays related to land approvals, No Objection Certificates (NOCs) and infrastructure readiness.
The report outlines progress in identifying land for school construction, while noting that clearances from multiple departments remain pending in several districts.
NOCs And Land Issues Delay Progress
Land has been identified at multiple locations, including Bhagalpur, Kaimur, Jhanjharpur, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur and Patna. However, NOCs from departments such as health, agriculture, animal and fisheries resources, and BIADA are yet to be issued.
Additional sites in Gaya (Bodhgaya), Katihar and Darbhanga have been deemed suitable, while land transfer processes are ongoing in Madhepura.
In some districts, logistical challenges persist. In Bhojpur and Purnia, for instance, identified land requires the construction of approach roads and removal of encroachments. Alternative land parcels have also been identified in Sheikhpura, Sitamarhi and Nalanda.
Chief Secretary Orders Immediate Action
Taking note of the delays, Bihar chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit has directed concerned departments and district administrations to expedite approvals and clear pending issues.
He instructed departments to issue NOCs without delay, while district magistrates have been asked to prioritise removal of encroachments, construction of access roads and completion of land transfer and lease formalities.
Temporary Infrastructure Under Review
The review also examined the condition of temporary buildings designated for the schools. While structures such as high schools, colleges and hostels have been identified for interim use, many require repairs.
Officials have been directed to begin maintenance work immediately to ensure readiness for academic activities.
Push To Launch Schools Soon
The state government said its priority is to complete all administrative and infrastructural processes at the earliest so that the new Kendriya Vidyalayas can begin functioning without delay.
The expansion is expected to improve access to quality education across multiple districts in Bihar, particularly in areas currently lacking central school facilities.
