Buxar: The Bihar government has eased the process of land registration in Buxar district by removing the mandatory One-Time Password (OTP) verification for document booking, following technical issues that caused delays and inconvenience for applicants. Officials said the revised system, effective from Thursday, allows bookings to be completed using only a registered mobile number.
Under the earlier arrangement, both the buyer and the seller were required to authenticate their identities through OTPs sent to their mobile phones before the booking could proceed. The measure was introduced as a digital safeguard, but frequent verification failures and network problems disrupted the system, leaving many applicants unable to finalise their appointments.
The OTP-based process had been rolled out earlier this week but quickly drew complaints from the public. Long waiting times and repeated technical errors reportedly slowed down routine transactions at registration offices, prompting authorities to reconsider the requirement. In response, the district administration withdrew the rule to ensure smoother operations.
The new mechanism has been implemented with immediate effect at the Buxar District Registration Office and the Dumraon Sub-Registration Office. Applicants can now book registry documents simply by entering their mobile number, eliminating the additional authentication step.
Officials said the change is expected to streamline property transactions, reduce delays and make the land registry system more accessible. For residents involved in buying or selling land, the move offers relief and is likely to speed up the overall registration process.
