Patna: Ten newly elected members of the Bihar Legislative Council will take oath on today completing the formal process of their induction into the Upper House after being elected unopposed earlier this month.
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4pm in the main auditorium of the Legislative Council Annexe building in Patna. The members were declared elected unopposed after only 10 nominations were filed for the 10 vacant seats.
Pawan Singh And Nishant Kumar Among New Members
Among those taking oath for the first time are Bhojpuri actor Pawan Singh and Bihar minister Nishant Kumar, whose induction has drawn attention in political circles. The ceremony will mark their official entry into the Legislative Council.
Lallan Prasad Fills Seat Vacated By Nitish Kumar
Senior JD(U) leader Lallan Prasad has been elected to the seat vacated by Chief Minister and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar.
Party leaders have described his elevation as recognition of his organisational role and long-standing association with the party.
Members Elected Across Four Parties
The newly elected members represent four political parties. The BJP and JD(U) have secured four seats each, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) have one member each.
As no additional candidates entered the contest, all 10 nominees were elected unopposed.
RJD And LJP (Ram Vilas) Representatives
The RJD has returned senior leader Dr Sunil Kumar Singh to the Legislative Council, while Ashraf Ansari, the state working president and chief spokesperson of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), will take oath as an MLC for the first time. Both leaders were nominated by their respective parties for their organisational contributions.
Oath taking Completes Election Process
The candidates were declared elected unopposed around 20 days ago. Today’s ceremony formally concludes the election process and enables the new members to assume their responsibilities in the Upper House.
The appointments have also prompted political discussion over the absence of BJP leader and minister Deepak Prakash from the list of new MLCs, though no official explanation has been issued.
