Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting with officials from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Road Construction Department (RCD) and Higher Education Department at the chief minister’s residence in Patna.
Senior officials from the three departments attended the meeting, where progress on public infrastructure and service delivery was reviewed.
Details of the meeting were later shared by Choudhary on social media platform X.
AI-based system planned for water complaints
Reviewing the state’s drinking water situation ahead of peak summer months, Choudhary directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to households across Bihar.
He also proposed the development of an Artificial Intelligence-based monitoring system to address public complaints related to water supply and detect technical faults more quickly.
Officials were instructed to install new hand pumps in water-scarce and affected rural areas before June 30.
Focus on roads and connectivity
The chief minister asked the Road Construction Department to speed up work aimed at connecting all district headquarters in Bihar through four-lane roads.
He directed officials to complete ongoing expressway, national highway and state highway projects without delay.
The government also stressed improving connectivity to major tourism centres, agricultural markets and industrial zones to support trade and economic activity.
Regular bridge inspections ordered
During the meeting, Choudhary instructed officials to carry out regular quality and structural inspections of bridges and culverts across the state.
The move comes amid increasing focus on infrastructure safety and maintenance in Bihar.
Officials were told to ensure that inspections are conducted periodically to reduce the risk of accidents and improve long-term infrastructure reliability.
