Patna: Bihar Sanskrit Education Board Chairman Mrityunjay Kumar Jha on Monday released the board’s one-year report card, outlining a series of reforms aimed at expanding and modernising Sanskrit education across the state. The board reported growth in student participation, digital initiatives, curriculum reforms and plans to integrate technology into traditional learning.
Madhyama Examination Sees Highest Growth in Eight Years
According to the chairman, the number of students appearing for the Madhyama Examination increased sharply in 2026. While 13,241 candidates took the examination last year, nearly 24,000 students appeared this year.
Board officials said the increase is the highest recorded in the past eight years, indicating growing interest in Sanskrit education across Bihar.
Board Launches Its First Official Website
Mrityunjay Jha said the board has launched its official website for the first time, enabling online applications and digital publication of examination results.
He added that the Madhyama Examination results were declared within a record 27 days. The board also successfully conducted supplementary examinations for the first time, providing an additional opportunity for students.
Curriculum Updated Under NEP 2020
The board has revised its curriculum in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
As part of its future roadmap, 40 Sanskrit schools across Bihar will be upgraded into model institutions. The schools will be equipped with computer laboratories, digital libraries and modern teaching infrastructure to improve learning outcomes.
AI-Based Education and Language Labs Planned
The chairman said the board is working to connect Sanskrit education with emerging technologies. Plans are underway to introduce AI-based learning systems and establish language laboratories in Sanskrit institutions.
The initiative aims to make Sanskrit studies more accessible, interactive and relevant in a technology-driven educational environment.
Focus on Employment-Oriented Sanskrit Education
He said the board is committed to making Sanskrit education more employment-oriented and technology-focused. Efforts are being made to create new opportunities for students while strengthening Bihar’s position as a leading centre for Sanskrit learning in the country.
