Patna: Tensions over LPG cylinder shortages in Bihar’s Siwan district have led to clashes at two separate locations, highlighting growing pressure on the supply and distribution system.
In the Mairwa police station area, an altercation broke out during cylinder distribution at Ambedkar Gas Agency in Guthni Morh on Friday evening. Witnesses said a group of youths created a disturbance that escalated into a physical assault on an agency employee.
The injured worker, identified as Dilip Baitha, sustained serious injuries to his hand. He alleged that during the attack, his mobile phone and around Rs 30,000 in cash were snatched.
Police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control, after which cylinder distribution resumed under supervision.
Dispute at second agency
A separate incident was reported at a gas agency in Raghunathpur, where the proprietor of Gudiya Enterprises filed a complaint alleging assault and looting.
According to the complaint, individuals forcibly entered the office, attacked the manager and allegedly took cash and valuables.
However, police said initial investigations suggested the incident was not a case of robbery but a dispute between the agency’s current and former managers. Officials said the confrontation began over issues related to queue management and escalated into a scuffle.
Concerns over supply and management
The incidents come amid reports of LPG shortages in the district, with long queues and delays in distribution adding to public frustration.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into both cases, while the developments have raised questions about crowd management and the effectiveness of the current distribution system during supply constraints.
