Patna: The Bihar government has approved the introduction of seven new industry-focused undergraduate courses aimed at linking higher education with employment opportunities.
The programmes will be offered under the four-year Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme (AEDP), which combines academic study with practical industry training. Approval for the courses was granted following clearance from the Chancellor’s office.
The new courses will begin from the 2026 academic session.
Courses to be introduced in four universities
According to a notification issued by the Chancellor’s Secretariat, the courses will be introduced in Patliputra University, Patna University, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University and BR Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur.
Officials said the initiative is intended to improve employability by providing students with practical exposure alongside classroom education.
Industry-linked training to form part of curriculum
Under the AEDP model, students will receive apprenticeship training through partnerships between universities and industry bodies. The training arrangements will be implemented through tripartite memorandums of understanding involving universities, employers and students.
The state government said the model was expected to strengthen skill development and improve employment prospects for graduates.
Courses aligned with UGC guidelines
The notification stated that all programmes would be conducted in accordance with the University Grants Commission’s Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme guidelines.
