Patna: Bihar is likely to witness a significant change in weather conditions over the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting strong winds, thunderstorms and rainfall across several districts as the southwest monsoon advances through the state.
According to the IMD, weather conditions are expected to remain unsettled over the next 24 hours in districts including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Buxar and Siwan.
The department has warned that wind speeds could reach 50 to 60 kilometres per hour in some areas. Dust storms accompanied by strong winds are also possible, increasing the risk of uprooted trees, disruptions to electricity supply and traffic disturbances.
Rain And Lightning Risk
Thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall are expected in several parts of the state, with officials urging residents to remain alert, particularly in rural areas where lightning strikes can pose a serious threat to life and property.
The weather office has advised people to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms and to seek shelter in safe structures whenever lightning activity is reported.
Farmers and outdoor workers have been urged to exercise additional caution and monitor weather updates regularly.

Monsoon Activity Intensifies
Meteorologists said the southwest monsoon is advancing rapidly and its influence is already becoming visible across Bihar.
Increased cloud cover and a gradual drop in temperatures have been recorded in several districts, offering some relief from the intense heat and humidity that have affected much of the state in recent weeks.
Weather experts believe the monsoon could spread across most parts of Bihar within the next few days if current conditions persist.
Rain Likely In Several Districts
Intermittent rainfall is forecast for districts including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, Bhagalpur and Siwan.
The IMD said cloudy skies, rain and strong winds are likely to continue over the next several days as monsoon activity strengthens.
Authorities have advised residents not to stand under trees or near electricity poles during storms and to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall and high winds.
According to meteorologists, weather conditions are expected to remain variable in the coming days due to the combined influence of monsoon activity and western disturbances affecting the region.
While the rainfall may bring relief from soaring temperatures, officials have stressed that caution remains essential because of the risks posed by strong winds, lightning strikes and localised weather disruptions.
