Patna: A two-day job fair exclusively for women in Bihar has concluded with more than 6,000 job offers, marking what officials describe as a significant step towards improving female workforce participation in the state. Held at Gyan Bhawan in Patna, the “Women Mega Job Fair–2026” drew thousands of participants from across the state under the theme “New Opportunities, New Identity, New Wings, New Flight”.
Organised by the Women and Child Development Corporation under the state’s social welfare department, the event saw around 19,000 registrations, with 11,586 women attending in person. Recruiters from national and multinational companies offered 6,135 jobs over the two days, with the highest number of placements in healthcare, textiles and electronics. The figures point to a growing demand for women workers in both traditional and emerging sectors.
Participants travelled from all 38 districts of Bihar, with authorities arranging transport and on-ground assistance to ensure access. The organisers also made provisions for candidates with disabilities, including wheelchair access and dedicated staff support, in an effort to make the event more inclusive. Officials said such measures were aimed at removing barriers that often prevent women from entering the workforce.
Salary packages ranged widely, with an average annual offer of Rs 2.4 lakh and a top package of Rs 5.4 lakh. Recruiters including Medimix Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., 2050 Healthcare and Flipkart were among those recognised for hiring large numbers of candidates or offering higher pay. Training organisations such as LNJ Technology were also acknowledged for mobilising participants.
At the closing ceremony, chaired by Bihar’s social welfare minister Madan Sahni, officials described the initiative as a milestone. Senior bureaucrats including Mihir Kumar Singh and Kaushal Kishore emphasised the need to increase women’s participation in the labour force, noting that sustained efforts would be required to maintain momentum.
Speakers also highlighted a shift in employment trends, with women entering sectors traditionally dominated by men, such as automobiles. Addressing the gathering, Sahni said the initiative aligned with the broader push by chief minister Nitish Kumar to expand economic opportunities for women and promote self-reliance.
The event concluded with the distribution of appointment letters to selected candidates and a vote of thanks by Yogesh Kumar Sagar. Officials expressed hope that similar job fairs could be held regularly to build on the momentum and further strengthen women’s employment prospects in Bihar.
