Patna: The Bihar government has formulated the “Young Professional Selection Policy-2026” to recruit skilled youth for strengthening programmes and institutional work related to science and technology across the state.
The Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education will appoint candidates under three categories — Young Professional (YP-I), Young Professional (YP-II) and Young Professional (YP-III). Officials said the initiative is intended to improve the implementation and operational effectiveness of departmental schemes and technical programmes.
Under the policy, candidates for the YP-I category must have secured at least 75% marks in their diploma examinations.
For the YP-II category, candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in BTech examinations along with a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score from the past three years in the relevant engineering discipline.
Candidates applying under the YP-III category must hold at least 60% marks in MTech examinations and should have secured admission to their MTech programme through a valid GATE score.
Tenure And Deployment
The initial engagement period for selected candidates will be two years. The department may extend the tenure by one additional year based on performance evaluation and institutional requirements.
Officials said the number of Young Professionals to be appointed in each institution will depend on specific operational needs identified by the department. The state reservation policy will apply during the recruitment process.
Selected candidates will be deployed in institutions functioning under the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education. These include the Bihar Council on Science and Technology, Bihar Remote Sensing Applications Centre and Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City.
The Young Professionals may also provide services at Bihar Engineering University, the Sub-Regional Science Center in Gaya, the State Board of Technical Education, Taramandal in Darbhanga, as well as government engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes operating under the department.
Minister’s Statement
Sheela Kumari said the policy had been prepared to ensure more effective implementation of departmental schemes and programmes.
She said skilled youth would be recruited under three categories and their initial engagement would remain valid for two years.
