Patna: Patna Police have arrested four members of the alleged ‘Daya Dubey Gang’, including its leader, in a coordinated operation across Bihta and Buxar. Officials said firearms, live cartridges and mobile phones were recovered during the raids.
Extortion Complaint Triggered Action
According to police officials, the operation began after a woman lodged a complaint at Bihta Police Station on May 23. She alleged that on May 22, gang members demanded an extortion amount of Rs 7 lakh and threatened her with dire consequences if the demand was not met.
Following the complaint, a special team was formed under the supervision of Station House Officer Amit Kumar to investigate the case and track the accused.
Raid in Buxar Leads to Key Arrests
City Superintendent of Police (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said during a press briefing on Tuesday that technical surveillance and mobile tracking led police to Buxar, where a covert raid was conducted on June 1.
During the operation, police arrested Daya Dubey, identified as the alleged gang leader, along with his associate Abhishek Kumar. Acting on information gathered during interrogation, two more members—Om Singh and Shivam Kumar—were later arrested from separate locations.
Arms and Electronic Devices Recovered
Police said the recovered items include one country-made pistol, one country-made handgun, 10 live cartridges and five mobile phones. These devices are now being examined to trace the gang’s financial links and arms supply network.
Officials added that digital evidence is being analysed to identify additional associates and possible external support.
Background of Criminal Cases
Police records indicate that Daya Dubey is a history-sheeter with multiple cases registered against him, including extortion, Arms Act violations, assault and attempted murder.
Cases linked to him are reported from several police stations, including Bihta, Naubatpur, Paliganj, Digha, Ranitalab and Udwantnagar in Bhojpur district.
Earlier Arrests in Related Operations
Police also noted that several other alleged associates were arrested in separate actions over the past week.
On May 25, Ranjit Kumar was arrested near Bihta ROB with a country-made pistol and 10 cartridges. On May 27, Vishal Kumar was arrested from Dilawarpur with a firearm and two cartridges. On June 1, Aditya Kumar and Sachin Kumar were sent to jail in connection with another extortion case involving arms recovery.

City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh said the crackdown on organised criminal groups will continue. He added that strict action will be taken against those attempting to create fear or engage in extortion in the region, and maintaining public safety remains the top priority of the police.
