Patna: The dengue outbreak in Patna shows no signs of slowing down, with 22 fresh cases reported on Wednesday, taking the total number of patients this season to 705.
According to health department data, 53 cases were recorded between January and June, followed by 24 in July. The situation escalated in August with 218 cases, while September has witnessed a sharp spike, adding 410 patients so far.
In comparison, Patna had reported 823 cases by this time last year.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Avinash Kumar Singh said the situation is under continuous monitoring. “The Municipal Corporation is carrying out regular fogging in affected areas. People must ensure there is no stagnant water near their homes, use mosquito nets, and keep their bodies covered to protect against mosquito bites,” he advised.
The main dengue hotspots identified in the city include Musallahpur Haat, Sultanganj, Machhua Toli, Bazar Samiti, Sandalpur, Bhikhna Pahari, Kadamkuan, Mahendru, Rampur Road, Khajanchi Road, Boring Road, Raja Bazaar, Rajapur, Digha, Pataliputra, Agkuan, Kumhrar, Bhagwat Nagar, Hanuman Nagar, Postal Park, and Mandiri.
Health officials have urged residents in these localities to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease.
